During the rapid preventive measures conducted in the city of Tashkent in June against individuals engaged in begging, nearly three hundred individuals were identified and appropriate measures were taken. The Tashkent city Internal Affairs Department reported this.

According to reports, administrative detention under the article "Begging" of the Administrative Responsibility Code was assigned to 70 of them, 47 individuals were subjected to administrative fines. Preventive talks were held with 68 individuals, and they were warned by the court. 44 minors were handed over to the Center for Social and Legal Aid to Minors. Due to the absence of identification documents, 15 people were sent to the Rehabilitation Center, and criminal cases were initiated against 2 individuals under the "Begging" article of the Criminal Code. Investigations are ongoing for the remaining individuals.

It is emphasized that, according to the mid-year report for 2025, 1880 individuals who have taken up begging as a profession were identified.

According to the law, engaging in this type of violation results in a fine of up to three times the minimum wage amount (1 million 125 thousand som) or in administrative detention for up to 15 days.

Inducing minors, elderly individuals, mentally ill, disabled individuals, and other individuals to beg, as well as forcing them to consume alcohol, narcotic substances or psychotropic substances not belonging to either category but affecting the person's cognition against their will, results in a fine up to ten times the minimum wage amount (3 million 750 thousand som) or in administrative detention for up to 15 days.

If such an act is committed after an administrative punishment has been imposed, it leads to criminal liability and can be punished with deprivation of freedom for up to 5 years.
