Former US President Donald Trump appointed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy as the head of NASA.
According to Donald Trump, Sean Duffy, as an expert who has led major projects in restoring the country's infrastructure, will now also temporarily lead the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
"Sean has proven himself not only in transportation issues but also in managing modern air traffic and modernizing roads and bridges. He will be an excellent leader for an organization like NASA, which is gaining increasing importance, even if only for a short term," wrote Trump.
Earlier, Trump had appointed a billionaire
In December 2024, Trump had nominated billionaire astronaut Jared Isaacman, who collaborates with SpaceX, for the position of NASA head. He praised Isaacman's passion for space and his astronaut experience. However, the confirmed candidate was dismissed by Trump in June.
Is Musk the reason behind the Trump controversy?
According to "Reatures" sources, Isaacman's nomination was pushed forward under Elon Musk's influence. However, after relations between Trump and Musk deteriorated, Trump was forced to change his decision under pressure from advisors.
For reference, Musk recently formed the "America" party with the goal of entering Congress. This could indicate the emergence of a competitor in Trump's political arena.
