In July 2025, nearly 1,300 people in the U.S. were infected with measles. The highest number of cases—over 750—were recorded in Texas. This is the highest figure since 1992.
Additionally, for the first time in the last 10 years, three people died from this disease—two children in Texas and one adult in New Mexico. All of them were unvaccinated.
The vaccination rate among children has dropped from 95% to 92.7% over the past three years. Experts attribute this to certain politicians and the "anti-vax" movement.
Health Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. had previously claimed that vaccines were dangerous. However, as the disease surged, he changed his stance and acknowledged that vaccination is the most effective measure.
