A passenger train numbered 55, traveling in the southern direction of Germany on the Sigmaringen–Ulm route, was involved in an accident. The incident occurred on the railway section between Riedlingen and Munderkingen.
According to local officials, at least 3 people died as a result of the accident, while 34 others sustained injuries, with 3 of them in serious condition being hospitalized.
It was determined that the front part of the train tilted to the left and derailed. The cars were lifted approximately 5 meters high and collided with trees.
Preliminary reports indicate that the cause of the incident was a fallen tree on the tracks after heavy rainfall. As a result, traffic on this railway section has been suspended.
