The U.S. has sharply criticized India for continuing to import oil from Russia. Donald Trump said "this situation is unacceptable."
According to White House spokesperson Steven Miller, India has nearly matched China in the volume of oil purchases from Russia.
U.S. officials have stated that if a peace agreement regarding Ukraine is not reached within the next 10 days, a 100% secondary tariff will be imposed on countries trading with Russia.
A 25% tariff has already been applied to India. The Indian government has not yet issued an official response to these criticisms.
