A meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the issue of employment for higher education graduates has begun. During the meeting, the fact that higher education does not align with the demands of the real labor market was sharply criticized.
For example, at the BYD plant, which produces 20,000 cars annually, there are 100 vacant positions, but due to a shortage of specialists, 80 engineers have been recruited from abroad. Once the plant reaches full capacity, it will require more than 4,000 highly qualified personnel.
Similarly, in the light industry sector, despite 2,500 students graduating annually, 42% of them cannot find jobs. This is because they lack sufficient skills to work with modern technologies.
The President also criticized discrepancies in the statistics: while it is claimed that 125,000 out of this year's 231,000 graduates have been employed, 42,000 of them are listed as self-employed.
