The European Union has allocated another 1.6 billion euros to Ukraine from the proceeds of frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank. The European Commission announced this.

This is the third such payment, with 90% of the previous two "tranches" spent on supporting Ukraine through the European Peace Facility, while the remainder was directed through the Ukraine Loan Facility established in 2024.

The second "tranche"—1 billion euros—was disbursed in the spring of 2025, while the first "tranche" was transferred in 2024. In total, the EU's macro-financial assistance to Ukraine amounts to 18.1 billion euros. This represents the EU's share in the G7's credit program, which envisions allocating 45 billion euros to Ukraine.

For reference, the term "tranche" is used in economic and financial texts and originates from the English word "tranche" (borrowed from French).

It refers to a portion or installment of funds or debt that is disbursed in stages. For example, a large loan or aid amount is not provided all at once but is divided into several parts—each part is called a tranche.
