In July, German police recorded over 4,000 attempts of illegal crossings through the western borders via France, Luxembourg, and Belgium. Of these, 2,573 individuals attempted to enter through France into the federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.
A portion of the illegal migrants were deported: 1,364 to France, 869 to Luxembourg, and 132 to Belgium. These figures apply only to July, and the final statistics have not yet been released.
According to federal police data, 144 smugglers were apprehended during inspections, and 480 individuals were arrested based on warrants.
For reference, temporary border controls were reintroduced across all German borders starting September 16, 2024. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has expressed his intention to extend this regime beyond September.
