U.S. President Donald Trump said it would be difficult to immediately reach an agreement to cease hostilities in Ukraine during his upcoming meeting with Vladimir Putin.

According to him, there is confidence that Putin "makes deals," but achieving this during the summit itself is unlikely.

Trump said about Putin, "He can do it, I am the toughest opponent he has ever faced."

The White House and the Kremlin stated that no documents are planned to be signed at the conclusion of the meeting. According to Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, the two leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference after the talks in Anchorage. Trump, however, avoided confirming or denying this.

Additionally, Trump estimated a 25% chance that the meeting might not be successful. If the talks yield no results, the U.S. has expressed readiness to impose new sanctions on Russia.
