Today, August 15, at least 160 people have died due to heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan. Of the deceased, 110 were residents of the mountainous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. This was reported by Le Monde.

According to a spokesperson for Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority, flash floods and landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province alone have confirmed the deaths of 110 people and injuries to 60 others. The districts of Buner, Bajaur, Mansehra, and Battagram have been declared disaster-prone areas where further devastation may occur.

Images from Agence France-Presse depict residents of Bajaur district, a region bordering Afghanistan, digging through mud-covered hillsides. Nearby, funeral prayers were being held in an open field, with people observed mourning.

Pakistan's meteorological service has issued warnings of heavy rainfall risks in the northwestern regions. Residents have been urged to avoid hazardous areas. Meanwhile, in Indian-administered Kashmir, rescue workers are retrieving bodies from the mud and debris.
