Syria's interim President Ahmed Al-Sharaa delivered a speech at the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly on September 24. In his speech, he emphasized that the country has lived under pressure for 60 years, and that political reforms have now begun.

Al-Sharaa  called on the international community to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria, stating that these restrictions are hindering the freedom of the population. According to his words, a new government has been formed in Syria, the armed forces have been brought under state control, and a national dialogue has been initiated.

He also blamed Israel for escalating tensions in the region and expressed his support for achieving peace through diplomatic means.

For reference, in December 2024, Bashar al-Assad was ousted from power, marking the beginning of a new political era in Syria.
