In the first 9 months of 2025, 155 girls aged 15–17 were married early in Uzbekistan. This was announced by the Minister of Health Asilbek Khudayarov in an interview with the "Uzbekistan 24" television channel.
According to his emphasis, early marriage and marriages between relatives are recognized by modern medicine as factors that increase the likelihood of children with disabilities being born.
At the same time, it was also noted as a concerning situation that there are cases of pregnancies occurring twice a year, without observing the required interval, resulting in the birth of weak and unhealthy babies.
According to Khudayarov, effective explanatory work is being carried out among the population to prevent such situations. If these cases are repeated, they will be discussed at the mahalla (neighborhood) level and necessary measures will be taken.
