He spoke about this on October 27 at the opening ceremony of the Karakul HPP in Jalal-Abad region.
According to Japarov, the commissioning of the new HPP will serve to strengthen the country's energy security and develop the economy.
"In two and a half years, we will stop importing electricity, the energy produced will fully cover domestic needs," said the head of state.
According to the President, more than 40 small and medium-sized HPPs and a new power plant in Kara-Keche are currently under construction in the republic. Upon completion of these projects, Kyrgyzstan could become a country that exports electricity.
