Although a ceasefire has been declared in Gaza, malnutrition among children continues. According to UNICEF, since October, 9,300 children have been hospitalized due to acute malnutrition.
According to the organization's representative, Tess Ingram, these numbers are still alarmingly high and the flow of aid is falling drastically short.
While UNICEF has confirmed that the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza has eased somewhat, restrictions persist: trucks being held at the border, road closures, and security-related issues are reducing the volume of aid.
It is also reported that commercial products are almost non-existent in the area. For example, the price of one kilogram of meat has exceeded 20 dollars, making it unaffordable for many families.
The UN had previously warned that nearly half a million people were living in famine-like conditions, and that if the war continues, the damage to children's health could be long-term.
