During a rapid operation conducted by servicemen of the Border Troops, employees of the State Customs Committee of the Samarkand region administration, and the regional DIA, the illegal import of narcotic substances was prevented.

It is reported that two citizens, aged 28 and 29, living in the Bulungur district, brought in 79 kg 358 grams of opium narcotic substance from Tajikistan via smuggling and hid it in a secret place for subsequent sale.

Furthermore, based on the testimony of one of the detainees, 1 kg 953 grams of methamphetamine substance hidden in a field was also seized.

In another case, two citizens living in the Uzun district of Surkhandarya region and a citizen of Tajikistan living in the Tursunzoda district were detained by servicemen of the Border Troops while attempting to bring 30 kg 357 grams of opium substance into the territory of Uzbekistan.

The indicated persons were supposed to deliver these narcotic substances belonging to a Tajik drug dealer to a specified address in exchange for a certain monetary reward.

During the rapid operation, the customer of the narcotic substances - a 39-year-old individual living in the city of Denov - was also detained.

Currently, criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents under Article 246 (smuggling) and Article 273 (illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and other actions with the intent to transfer narcotic substances, their analogues, or psychotropic substances, as well as their transfer) of the Criminal Code, and the preventive measure of detention has been applied against the offenders.
