The Russian government did not accept the revised 20-point peace plan previously put forward by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Bloomberg agency reported this on December 24, citing sources close to the Kremlin.
According to the sources, Moscow considers the document a "starting point," but it does not reflect a number of issues of fundamental importance to Russia. In particular, the Kremlin is demanding stricter restrictions on the size and capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, guarantees on NATO's non-expansion to the east, and the strengthening of Ukraine's neutral status.
Russia also raised issues of guaranteeing the status of the Russian language, lifting sanctions, and clarifying the fate of frozen Russian assets in the West. At the same time, Moscow indicated it does not intend to reject the plan outright and is prepared to study the proposals "soberly."
