Various discussions have arisen on social networks regarding the Tashkent city mayor's decision No. 921-14-0-Қ/25 dated December 25, 2025. Some users have misinterpreted this document, putting forward opinions that the population will now be forced to pay for parking their car in front of their own house.

The Tashkent city administration announced that these claims are unfounded. According to the official explanation, the newly introduced procedure applies only to the operation of paid parking lots organized along roads. No payment or special permit is required for storing a car in the courtyards of multi-story buildings, residential compounds, or in free areas where parking is not prohibited.

In accordance with the decision, a "residential parking permit" will be introduced for citizens living on streets with paid parking or in nearby areas. This mechanism is aimed at providing privileges to residents in front of whose houses paid parking is organized and reducing their problems related to parking.

Residents will be able to use the paid parking lots free of charge from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. During the daytime, however, instead of an hourly rate, a fixed annual payment will be established. The annual payment amount is equal to one base calculation amount, and a maximum of two residential parking permits will be issued per household address. This new procedure comes into force on February 1, 2026.
