Severe winter storms in Northern European countries caused transport disruptions and power outages. In Sweden, three people died.
The Swedish Meteorological Agency issued a warning for strong winds across a large part of the country's northern coast due to the approaching storm Johannes.
According to local media and police reports, a 50-year-old man died after a tree fell on him at the Kungsberget ski resort in the south of the country. In the north, the Hemav regional utility company reported that one of its employees died in a work-related accident.
Police also reported that a 60-year-old man working in a forest in Hofors, in central Sweden, was taken to hospital after being hit by a falling tree and later died from his injuries.
The storm left tens of thousands of homes without power in Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
According to Sweden's TT news agency, more than 40,000 homes in the country were left without electricity, and numerous train services were canceled.
Several flights, trains, and ferries were canceled in parts of the Scandinavian countries.
The storm also affected road and rail transport.
