A fund of the Academy of Sciences will be established in Uzbekistan. This was outlined in the Presidential Decree "On measures to improve the activities of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan" adopted on December 27.
According to the decree, within the framework of developing the activities of the Academy of Sciences, it is planned to triple the number of new scientific developments and the volume of funds raised from their commercialization, increase the share of young people among scientific personnel to 60 percent, and re-engage the scientific diaspora working abroad in the country's science.
Furthermore, to strengthen the integration of science and industry, a Council for the Integration of Science and Industry will be established. Starting from 2026, to improve the quality of all projects within the framework of state scientific programs, candidates for co-chairs will be included in the composition of scientific and technical councils that evaluate them, based on the proposal of the Academy of Sciences.
From April 1, 2026, a KPI and rating system for evaluating the activities of scientific personnel and institutions with the participation of foreign experts will be introduced in scientific institutions within the system of the Academy of Sciences. Starting from January 1, 2026, the Academy of Sciences fund will begin its activities to support scientific research and encourage young scientists.
