It is reported that the foundation stone for the construction of the New Tashkent city was laid in 2023, and 19,700 hectares of land from the Yukori and O'rta Chirchiq districts have been allocated for the project. The concept was developed by the British company "Cross Works". Currently, over 100 large and medium-scale projects are being implemented in the area.
To date, construction areas in the new city have reached 3 million square meters, with a number of residential complexes and infrastructure facilities entering their final stage. The first phase envisions creating modern conditions for 600,000 residents, and upon full completion of the project, New Tashkent is planned to become a metropolis inhabited by 2 million people.
In the area, underground utility networks, tunnels and interchanges, as well as a 10-kilometer riverside park are being established. The President gave instructions to strengthen "green" principles in urban development and to create a convenient environment for public transport, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Furthermore, the construction of administrative buildings for over 60 state institutions is planned, along with the establishment of commercial and service facilities based on $2 billion in investments. The construction process itself has provided jobs for 10,000 people.
