US President Donald Trump announced that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been captured and removed from the country along with his partner.
The relevant statement was announced by Trump on his Truth Social network page.
The US President wrote that the United States carried out a full-scale military and special operation on Venezuelan territory. He emphasized that as a result of this operation, Nicolas Maduro and his partner were arrested and taken out of Venezuela.
This statement is considered the US President's first official comment since the strikes against Venezuela began.
Earlier, The New York Times publication reported that Maduro's whereabouts were unknown.
According to Donald Trump's statement, the operation was carried out in cooperation with US law enforcement agencies.
He also announced that a press conference will be held at 17:00 Central European Time at the Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
