There are casualties among the civilian population as a result of the clashes, thousands of people are leaving the city.

On January 7, intense clashes broke out between the Syrian army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the city of Aleppo, Syria. Citing local sources, Reuters reported that at least several people were killed and dozens injured as a result of the clashes.

According to reports, government forces declared positions in the SDF-controlled neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrafiyah as "legitimate military targets." Against the backdrop of the clashes, approximately 10,000 civilians have been evacuated from Aleppo to safe areas.

Recent events have disrupted city life: the airport and the highway to Turkey were closed, and production in industrial zones stopped. While Damascus officials stated that the attacks were a response to strikes carried out by the SDF, the Kurdish side accuses the government of escalating the situation, posing a threat to civilians.

It should be noted that the parties reached an agreement last year on integrating the SDF into central government structures, but in practice this process has not yielded results.
