"90 percent of all payments in the state and private sector in Dubai will be carried out cashless by the end of 2026," reported the Dubai Government Media Office.
The strategy for transitioning to cashless payments was first announced in 2024. Its goal is to implement a grand plan to eliminate banknotes and coins and turn Dubai into a cashless city.
The means for implementing this plan include bank and other applications, cards, and in the future, innovations based on artificial intelligence in digital payments.
