Nevertheless, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's recent visit to Beijing and the signing of a series of economic agreements have intensified tensions in US-Canada relations.
Previously, Trump had supported cooperation between Canada and China, but Washington's position changed after Carney's speech in Davos.
