On his Truth Social page about Donald Trump, he wrote that if Canada gets closer to China, all Canadian products entering the USA will immediately be subject to a 100 percent tariff.
In response, Canada's Minister of Trade, Dominic LeBlanc, stated that the country is striving to establish a free trade agreement with China. Nevertheless, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's recent visit to Beijing and the signing of a series of economic agreements have intensified tensions in US-Canada relations.
Previously, Trump had supported cooperation between Canada and China, but Washington's position changed after Carney's speech in Davos.
