The presentation noted that Navoi International Airport is not fully utilizing its existing capacity, and the need to modernize infrastructure and service systems. It was proposed to transfer the airport to independent operational management from "Uzbekistan Airports" JSC, granting it the right to conclude contracts directly with local and foreign airlines.
It is planned to increase aviation service exports by directing airport revenues towards renewing infrastructure, expanding fuel reservoirs, and technical aircraft servicing. According to the business plan, the number of regular flights will be increased to over 25, and the volume of processed cargo will exceed 20 thousand tons.
Furthermore, it was decided to establish a "porto-franco" free customs zone on the airport territory and to exempt special equipment and spare parts from customs duties until 2029.
The meeting also focused specifically on transforming the "Uzbekistan Airways" and "Uzbekistan Airports" enterprises, ceasing the financing of non-core activities from 2026, reducing costs, and accelerating digitalization.
In addition, the meeting discussed improving the personnel training system in civil aviation and the work of establishing a Civil Aviation University and an aviation technical school. These educational institutions will operate in cooperation with leading international aviation centers.
The President approved the proposals and gave relevant instructions to those responsible.
