According to the President's statement, he has tasked officials responsible for foreign policy with preparing a response to Washington's proposal for negotiations. According to Pezeshkian, negotiations must be "fair and impartial" and conducted based on principles important to Iran — dignity, wisdom, and national interests.
He emphasized that any dialogue must be structured taking into account Iran's national interests, stating that negotiations cannot be held under conditions of pressure, threats, and "unfounded demands."
At the same time, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei, possible talks between Tehran and Washington could take place in Turkey in the coming days. He stressed that one of the key issues for Iran is the lifting of sanctions imposed by the US and Western countries.
It is reported that previously, US President Donald Trump announced that a military fleet led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln had been sent towards Iran. He called on Iran to abandon nuclear weapons and form a "fair and equal" agreement, warning that otherwise military strikes could be intensified.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that if the US continues its threats, the country will not engage in direct negotiations.
