According to our information, the investigation being conducted by the Manhattan and Brooklyn prosecutors has involved prosecutors specializing in international narcotics trafficking cases, as well as agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
"Within the scope of the investigation, among other matters, President Gustavo Petro's potential meetings with drug traffickers and whether his presidential campaign collected donations from drug lords are being examined," sources say.
The prosecutors are conducting the investigations independently of each other. They are currently in the preliminary stage, and it is not yet known whether any criminal charges will be filed or not. Furthermore, according to The New York Times' clarification, there is no evidence that these investigations were initiated at the White House's initiative.
