One person died after a boat capsized in the Southern Surkhan Reservoir, located in the Kumkurgan district of the Surkhandarya region. This was reported by the regional emergency management department.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 17:30 on June 1. According to a message received through the "112" system, a boat in the reservoir capsized, and the citizens inside fell into the water.
Rescuers who arrived at the scene determined that four of the five citizens who were on the boat had swum to the shore. One citizen could not get out of the water and drowned.
Currently, rescuers are conducting large-scale search operations in the water basin.
Also, in order to determine the causes of the incident, investigation work is ongoing at the scene by employees of the Kumkurgan District Prosecutor's Office, the Internal Affairs Department, and the Emergency Management Department.
Let us recall that on May 31, in the Pakhtachi district of the Samarkand region, the driver of an electric moped designed for cargo transportation lost control, causing the vehicle, along with eight citizens on board, to fall into the Narpa Canal.
At that time, four citizens were rescued by the public, while the bodies of the remaining four children were retrieved from the water during search operations.
