A powerful explosion in Colombia's Cauca department killed 14 people and injured at least 38 others. The incident occurred on the Pan-American Highway during a time of heavy pedestrian traffic.
According to a statement by Governor Octavio Guzmán on social media platform X, the victims include five minors. The explosion caused significant damage to road infrastructure, particularly the Pan-American Highway. The governor expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and confirmed that necessary assistance is being provided to the injured.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro strongly condemned the attack, calling those responsible "terrorists, fascists, and drug traffickers." He called on the international community to intensify efforts against these groups, emphasizing the need to identify and eliminate their financial sources.
Officials are conducting an investigation into the incident.
