Videos have circulated on social media showing some residents of Andijan who went to Belarus for seasonal work expressing dissatisfaction that their promised wages are not being paid. The Migration Agency has commented on the situation.

According to reports, over 250 citizens from the Andijan region were sent to Belarus to work in agriculture and livestock sectors.

In the video appeals, some labor migrants stated that employers had offered them a monthly salary of $500 US. They say that after deducting living and daily expenses, the remaining amount does not provide the expected income. Therefore, some have expressed a desire to return to Uzbekistan.

According to Gulruh Tulaeva, head of the Migration Agency's press service, the agency's representatives in Belarus and officials from the Andijan regional administration are currently investigating the situation between employers and labor migrants.

According to her, if the employer fails to fulfill obligations stipulated in the employment contract or refuses to pay the agreed wages, citizens will be transferred to other jobs. It is noted that measures are being taken to resolve the issue in the short term.

According to the agency, this project is being implemented based on an agreement between the Andijan regional administration, the Migration Agency, and the Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk region of Belarus. Under the project, labor migrants are to be paid an average monthly salary of $900–1000 US, and in the highest case, up to $1200 US.

Let us recall that on July 8–9 of this year, during the state visit of Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Belarus, an agreement was signed between the two countries on the organized temporary employment of citizens.
