A new international award will be given for those in the field of literary translation in Uzbekistan.

The decision was made to approve the regulations for the Muhammad Reza Ogahi International Award in the field of literary translation.

In accordance with the decision, the regulations for the international award named after Muhammad Rizo Ogahiy in the field of literary translation were approved.

This Regulation defines the procedure for submitting documents, reviewing them, determining the winners, and awarding for the international award in the field of literary translation named after Muhammad Rizo Ogahiy.

The award is established to comprehensively support the translation of the best works of Uzbek literature into foreign languages and the finest examples of world literature into the Uzbek language, to materially and morally encourage active and skilled translators, to further improve the level of literary translation, and to widely promote literature and reading in our country.

In the Regulation:

  • The procedure for submitting documents for the international award in the field of literary translation named after Muhammad Rizo Ogahiy, reviewing them, and determining the winners;
  • The directions for which the international award is given;
  • Granting incentive awards for translated works that have special importance in developing the Uzbek school of literary translation and strengthening the bonds of friendship and solidarity among nations.

According to this Regulation, decisions on identifying and awarding the winners are made by the Council for the international award in the field of literary translation named after Muhammad Rizo Ogahiy established by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 4, 2024, No. PQ-205.

The decisions of the Council are formalized with the minutes of the Council meeting and are signed by the chairman of the Council or the deputy chairman who presided over the meeting.

The Writers' Association of Uzbekistan is considered the working body of the Council.

The competition is held once every two years, and the date for the solemn presentation of the International Award to the winners is determined by the Council.
