President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is chairing a video conference meeting dedicated to increasing production, export, and investment in the electrical engineering sector. This was reported by the President's press service.
During the open dialogue with entrepreneurs, many issues related to the electrical engineering sector were resolved.
For instance, the most frequent users of factoring are electrical engineering enterprises. By the end of the year, at least 30 million dollars worth of resources for factoring will be attracted to the sector.
Currently, projects financed by foreign loans exempt imported goods from customs duties and VAT. However, it was noted that the participation of our local enterprises in these projects is limited because they pay VAT, which makes it difficult for them to compete on price with imported goods.
From now on, the value-added tax paid by local manufacturers for goods delivered to projects involving international financial institutions will be reimbursed.
The sole demand for sector enterprises is quality, cost, and competition. It was emphasized that the introduction of international standards in production and the availability of certification are crucial.
Our President noted that the production of household appliances has been developing mainly due to the domestic market.
Last year, 70 percent of the produced household appliances were sold in the domestic market.
It's well known that there are many tariff and non-tariff barriers in external markets, but it's possible to produce on the basis of assembling large units for export markets, delivering them components and semi-finished products without additional charges.
It was emphasized that it is necessary to transform Uzbekistan into a regional electrical engineering hub by supplying technology, skilled specialists, and components to neighboring markets.
Responsible persons were tasked with launching at least 15 new products under our national brands in neighboring markets.
During the meeting, it was pointed out that sector leaders and governors need to learn to work not only with large enterprises but with all entrepreneurs in the sector.
Therefore, it was emphasized that it's necessary to fundamentally alter the activities of the “Uzelektroapparat” association.
Specifically, identifying goods in demand in domestic and foreign markets, offering projects to entrepreneurs; aligning sector standards with international requirements, assisting them in certification; ordering higher education institutions and colleges to train engineering technologists and mid-level personnel, jointly developing their programs; sending promising specialists from local enterprises for internships to leading foreign companies are supposed to be the main tasks of the association.
