Uzbekistan's new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Alisher To'xtaev presented his credentials to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari at the "Aiwan-e-Sadr" palace in Islamabad, reports "Dunyo" IA.

After the official ceremony, a conversation took place discussing the current state of multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and prospects for its further development.

The President of Pakistan expressed deep respect and esteem to the leader of Uzbekistan, asking to convey his best and most sincere wishes. President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the importance of the shared cultural, historical, and educational-spiritual ties that have been the strong foundation of long-term brotherly relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. He also recognized the commendable economic growth indicators of the republic and confirmed his readiness to employ all resources and capacities to further develop bilateral relations, especially in the fields of trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.

The conversation highlighted the high potential for developing mutual trade-economic relations. The importance of increasing the volume of mutual trade to 1 billion USD in the coming years was noted.

Special attention was given to cultural-humanitarian, tourism exchange issues. The leader of Pakistan expressed satisfaction with the simplification of the visa regime for citizens of his country traveling to Uzbekistan. The resumption of direct flights between Tashkent and Lahore cities in November of this year was emphasized as a new impulse for increasing the flow of tourists and strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Pakistan wished the Ambassador of Uzbekistan success in his responsible activity to strengthen bilateral relations.
