Against the backdrop of Donald Trump's potential return to the White House, the Ukrainian leadership is seeking to bolster its military aid and strengthen positions along the front line to solidify its starting position in potential negotiations with Russia. This was reported by zamon.uz here.
"The next 4-5 months will be decisive in the war. The upcoming winter will be a very challenging period. I hope the war is coming to an end, and now we will identify the positions of both sides in the negotiations," — cites a quote from an unnamed senior Ukrainian official.
According to the official, Kiev is waiting to see who will be appointed to key positions to understand what policies Donald Trump's new administration might pursue towards Ukraine. According to a Reuters interviewee, there is a risk that U.S. aid to Kiev might be reduced after the new president takes office.
"I hope that the Biden administration will try to avoid this risk by accelerating assistance," — he added.
Previously, Donald Trump had promised to end Russia's war against Ukraine "within 24 hours" if he came to power.
