Uzbekistan's former Foreign Minister and the President's Special Representative on Foreign Policy, Abdulaziz Kamilov, was awarded the title of Turkmenistan's "Honored Elder of the People" ("Hormatly il ýaşulusy"). This was reported by Turkmenportal
The title was awarded to him by the decree of the President of the country, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, for "strengthening the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, developing national traditions and customs, and reinforcing the unity and solidarity connected with the spiritual ties of the two brotherly nations."
In addition, according to another decree, Abdulaziz Kamilov was awarded the jubilee medal and breast badge of "Magtymguly Pyragy’s 300th Anniversary" (Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna).
This award was also given to him for "his special services in the upbringing of the younger generation, as well as his significant personal contribution to expanding the long-term relations between the two countries, and in political, economic, scientific-educational, and cultural cooperation."
