The US side opposed the use of the word "aggressor" against Russia in the G7 – the "Group of Seven" countries' communique.

On February 24, it will be exactly 3 years since Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the commencement of warfare. The US objected to the use of the term "aggressor" against Russia in the G7 statement dedicated to this date. This was reported by Britain's Financial Times newspaper, citing its sources here.

According to the publication's sources, it is still uncertain whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will participate in the virtual G7 summit taking place on Monday.

As stressed in the Financial Times article, this could potentially break the West's "traditional unity."

It is a reminder that on February 20, for the first time since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, the US side did not co-author a UN General Assembly resolution against Russia dedicated to Ukraine.

Previously, the head of European diplomacy had spoken about the "Russian attack."
