The European Union is allocating 2.5 million euros to provide primary, emergency aid to people affected by the earthquake in Myanmar, according to a press release published on the European Commission's website on Friday, March 28.

"This new humanitarian aid will help save the lives of the most vulnerable people in Myanmar and meet their immediate needs, especially focusing on displaced individuals and those affected by conflicts," says the document.

Furthermore, the European Union has activated its Copernicus satellite service to assist in assessing the impact of the earthquake. "In collaboration with humanitarian partners, the European Commission is assessing the situation and needs on the ground to mobilize the EU's subsequent assistance," — reports the European Union's press service.

Taking the current allocation into account, the total amount of EU humanitarian aid to Myanmar by 2025 will exceed 35 million euros, the report states. Since the European Union began providing humanitarian aid to Myanmar in 1994, the total amount has reached 446 million euros.
