After US President Donald Trump announced the implementation of new tariffs on imported goods, this decision delivered a significant blow to the stock market. As a result, the world's wealthiest people lost a total of 208 billion dollars in wealth in just one day. This was reported by zamon.uz here.

This incident was one of the largest loss of wealth in the history of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index — even since the COVID-19 pandemic, such a large loss had not been recorded.

Mark Zuckerberg suffered the greatest loss. The shares of his company, “Meta”, fell nearly 9 percent, and as a result, he lost 17.9 billion dollars in wealth — this constituted nearly 9 percent of his personal wealth.

Similarly, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos lost close to 15.9 billion dollars, and Elon Musk suffered losses of about 11 billion dollars. Since their wealth is mainly tied to the shares of their companies, the drop in shares directly impacted their financial situations.

Under Trump's new tariff policy, a basic 10 percent tariff has been set for every imported product. However, this rate is much higher for some countries: 34 percent for goods from China, 46 percent for Vietnam, and up to 20 percent for the European Union.

The new tariffs have affected the confidence of investors worldwide, leading to the “vanishing” of billions of dollars in an instant.
