After the Russian invasion, Ukraine imposed strict restrictions on leaving the country for men called up for military service. To date, more than 49,000 men have attempted to illegally travel abroad, and they have been stopped at the border. This was announced by Andrey Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
According to him, 45 thousand men tried to break through the border through secret routes, many of whom tried to get out through the "green border" - through forests and mountainous areas. Another 4 thousand people tried to leave with fake documents or other illegal means.
Also, about 900 criminal groups were identified that helped the men escape. They received between 4,500 and 11,000 euros for their "services."
Despite this, more than 800 thousand Ukrainian men in EU countries have received temporary protection status. This shows how urgent legal solutions are.
