The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, visited the "Uzbekistan and Italy: Dialogue of Civilizations" exhibition organized at the Congress Center in Samarkand. This was reported by the Presidential press service.
The unique exposition is dedicated to the deep historical, scientific, and cultural relations between the two countries. It consists of 9 thematic sections such as "Trade Relations between the Roman and Kushan Empires", "The First Renaissance Period", "Marco Polo", "Amir Temur", "Mirzo Ulugbek and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur", "Italians in Uzbekistan in the 19th Century", "The Contribution of Uzbekistanis to the Liberation of Italy during World War II", "Uzbekistan and Italy: Preserving Cultural Heritage".
Guests were shown the unique copy of the famous mural "Reception of envoys by the ruler of Samarkand, Afrosiyob" done in Florentine mosaic style by the famous Italian master Mauro Pelliccioni.
Furthermore, the leaders familiarized themselves with various historical monuments, graphical illustrations, manuscripts and miniatures, rare literary publications, sculptures, archive photos, and documents.
