The European Union plans to establish a maritime security center in the Black Sea. This project will be implemented within the framework of the "Black Sea Strategy" presented by the EU.
As EU foreign policy chief Kaya Kallas noted in Brussels, the center's main task is to monitor the movement of infrastructure and ships in the region in real time, from space and the seabed.
The center's location, participating countries, and funding sources have not yet been disclosed. According to Kallas, this center may also participate in monitoring the possible ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
Within the framework of the new strategy, the EU also intends to develop infrastructure that facilitates military mobility, as well as strengthen cooperation with Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
