The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received Dilma Rousseff, the President of the BRICS New Development Bank, who arrived in our country on June 9 to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum. This was reported by the Presidential Press Service. 

Issues of developing practical cooperation with this multilateral financial institution were discussed.

It was noted with satisfaction that the agreements reached within the framework of the BRICS summit in October of the last year are being consistently implemented.

In particular, the bank's Board of Directors gave its principled consent for the accession of Uzbekistan to the New Development Bank. A program of first priority joint projects worth a total of 5 billion dollars was formulated.

The leader of our state emphasized the importance of quickly preparing and implementing projects in priority areas such as modernization of irrigation systems, development of the mining industry, financing the private sector, and promoting public-private partnerships in the fields of education and infrastructure.

Additionally, large regional infrastructure projects were supported.
