Deputy Navruz Yusupov, elected from the Ecoparty, sent a parliamentary inquiry to the Prosecutor General and the Minister of Ecology regarding the disappearance of green areas in the territory of the former military hospital located in the Mirabad district of Tashkent city, specifically in the Yangi Mirabad neighborhood.
The reason for the deputy's inquiry was the artificial satellite images circulating on social networks. According to them, construction work began in August 2024 on a site where there had been a green area in April of the same year.
Yusupov formally submitted five questions to officials concerning the Ministry of Ecology, land legislation, the master plan, and environmental expertise. He requested clarification on potential legal violations in the land allocation process, the reasons for the disappearance of trees, and whether the construction complies with Tashkent's master plan up to 2045.
Until now, Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov had stated that the trees in this area had been accounted for and that there would be accountability even if a single tree was cut down.
However, in an official statement, the Ecoparty emphasized that trees are being cut despite the existence of a moratorium. Now, attention is focused on how officials will respond to the issue, particularly to the deputy's inquiry.
