French President Emmanuel Macron announced the country's decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

According to his statement, the official announcement on this matter will be made in September 2025. Macron described this decision as supporting peace efforts in the Middle East.

For reference, as of today, more than 140 countries worldwide have recognized the State of Palestine.

However, there is no unanimous agreement on this issue among European Union members. Ireland, Spain, and Norway had announced their recognition of Palestine in 2024.
