“European nuclear power plants are forced to reduce their capacity due to abnormally hot weather — the energy system is under severe strain as the use of air conditioners has sharply increased”, reports Financial Times.

“This summer in Europe has been extremely hot. June 2025 was recorded in Western Europe as the hottest month in observational history.

Under such weather conditions, cooling nuclear reactors becomes more difficult than usual, which further negatively impacts the already overloaded energy system”, states the publication.
