A program similar to the "Social Monitoring" system that operated during the coronavirus pandemic for migrants will start working in the Russian capital, Moscow, from September 1 of this year. This was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin in an interview with "Komsomolskaya Pravda".
It was reported that the Moscow authorities "have received permission to conduct a number of experiments in the territory of Moscow" to control migrants. According to the mayor, biometric control has been implemented for migrants at all airports. Also, an electronic card into which all data of a migrant is entered is being introduced in Moscow.
"Via a QR code, a police officer can know everything about him - when he arrived, for how long, where he works, whether there is a migration offense or not. If a red light is on, it means there is an offense, so the police officer must detain him. If it is green, there are no questions," says the mayor.
Speaking about the fight against illegal labor migrants, Sobyanin noted that "the fight against labor migration, especially under the conditions of the 'special military operation,' is a very bad story." According to him, employers in the country today cannot find nearly 5 million workers.
Sobyanin also reported that "in the last 10 years, almost all types of crimes by migrants have decreased by almost one-third."
