Reports spread on social networks about the outbreak of monkeypox among livestock in the Shakhrisabz district of the Kashkadarya region. The "Zamon" information program provided information about this situation.
It was reported that due to this disease, livestock, mainly large-horned animals, have been perishing in the region, and their owners have expressed that they are suffering economic losses as a result.
“They said it was monkeypox, and at first, there would be lumpy bumps. I am 76 years old and had never seen such a disease in my life,” said one of the citizens.
Livestock owners trying to fight this disease, commonly known as monkeypox, have stated that they cannot find a cure, that their efforts are not always yielding positive results, and that specialists have not yet provided the necessary recommendations.
However, specialists from the Shakhrisabz District Department of Veterinary and Livestock Development emphasized that the situation in the district is stable and that no information has been recorded regarding the extent of livestock infection with this disease.
“The disease commonly referred to as monkeypox is actually considered nodular dermatitis. Currently, we must tell our people that there is no reason to panic. We have vaccines available, and we have achieved 90% vaccination coverage across our region. A reserve has been created for the more than 1 million 700 thousand livestock in our region,” said Sodikjon Mamadiyorov, head of the department of the Regional Veterinary and Livestock Development Administration.
The specialist added that this disease, observed mainly in mountainous areas, has increased due to the bites and transmission by harmful insects, that it can be treated within a week with its specific treatment, and that there is no case of it transmitting to humans.
