On September 2, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of China Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing with the participation of official delegations. The parties discussed issues of strengthening the strategic partnership in all areas and expanding practical cooperation.
The meeting specifically noted major programs such as trade and economic relations, investment projects, cooperation in industry and agriculture, and the construction of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway. It was announced that bilateral trade volume exceeded $14 billion in 2023 and has grown by another 23 percent this year. Plans are in place to bring this figure to $20 billion in the coming years.
A number of agreements were also signed in the fields of education and science. Several Chinese universities will open branches in Uzbekistan, and an artificial intelligence development center and "Luban Workshops" will be established. Furthermore, a visa-free regime has been introduced to increase cultural exchanges, and the number of flights is growing.
At the conclusion of the talks, Mirziyoyev invited Xi Jinping to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan. The conversation proceeded in a spirit of constant trust, openness, and friendship.
