Former US President Joe Biden underwent surgery to remove basal cell carcinomas on his forehead. This was reported by The Times.

According to information from Biden's press secretary, the "Mohs" method was used during the operation. In this method, the tissue where skin cancer is detected is removed layer by layer — until no traces of cancer remain.

Notably, Biden's wife, Jill Biden, also underwent a similar operation above her right eye in 2023.

A video of the 82-year-old Biden leaving a church in Delaware with a bandage on his forehead has been circulating on social media. This is not his first encounter with cancer.

Before assuming the presidency, he was treated for skin cancer. In February 2023, a basal cell carcinoma was removed from his chest. Then, in May of the same year, an aggressive form of prostate cancer was detected, and it was learned that the disease had spread to his bones.

Biden had written the following on his social media page:

"Cancer touches all of our lives in some way. Like many of you, Jill and I have found, through our own tests, that we become even stronger in exactly these painful moments. We are grateful that you inspire us with your kindness and support."
