Earlier, based on information from the Ukrainian Prosecutor's Office, we reported that 13 Uzbekistanis were being held in slave-like conditions in Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan issued an official statement regarding this situation.
According to it, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Ukraine visited the site to clarify information disseminated by Ukrainian mass media about 13 citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan being used as "slaves" in difficult conditions at one of the greenhouses in the Kyiv region.
Currently, the health of all our citizens has been assessed, and they have been placed in one of the local hospitals in the Kyiv region for appropriate medical treatment.
The Embassy has taken full control of the situation concerning our citizens, and all necessary measures are being taken to repatriate them to Uzbekistan.
In particular, relevant notes were sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General to provide the necessary consular and legal assistance to the Uzbekistanis. A criminal case has been opened regarding this situation, and court proceedings are underway against the suspects.
The Embassy continues to take all necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of our citizens, provide them with comprehensive assistance, and restore their legal rights.
In turn, due to the observed situations in Ukraine that could pose a threat to human life, the report advises citizens of Uzbekistan to take their safety into account and refrain from planning visits to this country at the present time.
